Below, we’ve outlined our communication and payment policies to help you verify the legitimacy of any communications from our team:
Official Communication Channels:
- All emails will come from an official @crossroadslaw.ca email address.
- Phone calls will come from only those numbers listed on our website.
- Video calls will only be conducted through pre-arranged Microsoft Teams or Zoom meetings.
We will never contact you via WhatsApp, social media, or unsolicited messaging platforms.
Payment Requests:
From time to time, you may be asked to provide or top-up your secure trust retainer, but we will never ask you to send money directly to a lawyer or staff member.
Payments can only be made via:
- Credit card (MasterCard or Visa)
- Our secure online payment system, Clover. Payment links will only be sent upon your request, ensuring you are in control of initiating the payment process. Unsolicited payment links will never be sent.
- E-transfer. Payments by e-transfer are only accepted at our official accounting email, account@crossroadslaw.ca. We will never ask you to send funds to an individual or any email address that does not use the @crossroadslaw.ca domain.
- Cash. However, cash is not our primary method of payment, nor will we ever ask you to make a cash payment. If you choose to pay in cash, it will only be accepted in-person by a Crossroads Law lawyer or staff member. Please note that the Law Societies regulate cash payments, and we cannot accept amounts exceeding $7,500 for any given matter.
We will never ask for payment through gift cards, cryptocurrency, or wire transfers.
We will never send unsolicited video or audio recordings requesting funds.
