Manager, Human Resources & Administration
The Manager, Human Resources & Administration will join the operations leadership team and will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). The successful candidate will directly lead two receptionist/administrative employees and will also co-lead a 13-person legal support team.
- Strategic HR: Proactively uncover opportunities for improvement; develop and implement innovative and impactful programs and initiatives to support strategic priorities.
- Leadership Development: Coach and support lawyers and leaders to effectively address challenges, achieve goals, and maintain a culture of high performance, inclusion, and belonging.
- Employee Relations: Provide unbiased guidance on employee relations matters, ensuring compliance with legislation, adherence to policies, and fair resolution of issues.
- Talent Acquisition: Lead full-cycle recruitment, from posting to onboarding, in collaboration with leaders.
- Training & Development: Facilitate training and development opportunities by providing training and coaching to individuals and teams; oversee and evaluate training effectiveness.
- Performance Management: Create and introduce updated performance management system; coach leaders on effective implementation.
- Policy Development: Create and update policies and procedures to ensure consistency, compliance, and alignment with organizational growth.
- Culture Champion: Bring high energy and an “I’m excited to be here” attitude to champion a cohesive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Office Management: Oversee office operations including benefits administration, licensing, facilities liaison, vendor management, and office logistics.
- HR Generalist Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge and experience across all areas of Human Resources; a hands-on “doer” with an ability to also operate strategically.
- Relationship Building & Client Service: Exemplary interpersonal skills, with the ability to quickly build trust and rapport both in-person and remotely; does what they say they are going to do!
- Leadership Development: Proven ability to coach and mentor leaders, helping them to build and refine their leadership skills.
- Administrative Proficiency: Outstanding organizational and administrative skills; ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Legal and Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of employment laws, regulations, and compliance requirements to ensure HR practices meet legal standards and mitigate risk.
- Entrepreneurial Spirit: Navigates ambiguity with ease; brings an ability to both think ahead and develop procedures and processes to support a consistent and innovative approach.
- Emotional Intelligence: Ability to remain composed under pressure, particularly in a legal environment where frontline employees are supporting clients who are navigating personal challenges.
- Personal Attributes: Enthusiastic, intelligent, and thoughtful; a genuine desire to help others succeed.
- Degree or Diploma in Human Resources or related field.
- Minimum 5+ years’ Human Resources experience.
- 2+ years’ leadership experience.
- CPHR designation or working towards designation.
- Interprovincial employment law expertise, BC and Alberta.
- Experience working in law or family law.
- Flexible, hybrid work environment with the opportunity to work one or two days outside the office after probationary period.

Position Requirements
- Flexibility to travel to Vancouver for 2 to 3 days approximately 3-5 times a year.

Family Law Legal Assistant / Paralegal (Calgary)
We are looking for a full-time Legal Assistant / Paralegal to join our collaborative team in Calgary where we offer a hybrid work environment.
Position Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
- Daily time postings, monthly billings to clients and A/R collections
- Filing, file maintenance and calendar diarizations, and incoming/outgoing mail
- Ability to organize and prioritize work
- Fielding client inquiries via telephone contact/management
- Preliminary drafting and/or transcription of correspondence and legal documents
- Understanding of legal procedures in the Family Law area
- Document filings and court calendar management
- Other administrative duties as required
Requirements:
- 4+ years’ experience working as a legal assistant / paralegal.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Flexibility and adaptability in an ever-changing and growing workplace.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Organized and meticulous with follow-up and detail.
- Ability to take the initiative, prioritize and multitask.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe.
- Experience in family law is an asset.
- Ability to work overtime on occasion.
Legal Administrative Assistant (Vancouver)
